How to Get Rid of Homegroup

In Windows 7 you have the option to share your music, video and picture libraries with other people on your network by using the HomeGroup feature. In order to access a HomeGroup, a computer must be running Windows 7 and know the password set by the group's creator. The HomeGroup makes it easy to share printers along with your files and folders. If you no longer need a HomeGroup, it will disappear once everyone leaves the group.

  • Click "Start" and choose "Control Panel" from the right side.

  • Type "homegroup" in the search box, which is located in the upper right corner of your screen and press "Enter."

  • Remove yourself from the homegroup by clicking "Leave the homegroup."

  • Click "Finish" to close the box and do the same for each computer on the network. When the last computer leaves the group, it will be deleted.
