How to Hide Sections on Tumblr

Save

Tumblr is a social networking site that allows users to share all types of media. Themes in Tumblr may be customized to hide sections of the page. For example, if the user wanted to hide the people they are following, the "Following" section may be hidden by commenting out the block labeled "Following" in the theme HTML source code page. Editing the theme HTML may be performed from within the Tumblr site in a web browser.

  • Open a web browser and log into the Tumblr site to edit.

  • Click the "Dashboard" option to open the site dashboard.

  • Click the "Customize" option on the Dashboard page.

  • Click the "Theme" option and then click "Custom HTML". The HTML editor launches.

  • Place a starting comment command before the first "block" command for the section. The starting comment command is "<!--" (without quotes). For example, if you wanted to block out the "Following" section, place the <!-- command in front of the "{block:Following}" section. The code will then appear as:

    <!-- {block:Following}

  • Place an ending comment command after the last "block" command for the section. This code will look similar to the first tag, but will include a slash. The ending comment command is "-->" (without quotes). The code will appear as:

    {/block:Following} -->

  • Click "Save" to save the HTML. The theme is now edited to hide the specified section.
