How to Turn Off the Avira Detection Beep

Avira Anti-Virus software monitors incoming data for viruses and other malware, checks Web pages as you browse for malicious content and scans incoming and outgoing emails for harmful attachments or attempts to steal personal information, known as phishing. You can also scan your system manually or on a schedule, for viruses, trojans and other malware.. During a system scan, an audio alert plays if malware is detected. You can change the alert or disable it through Avira's configuration utility.

  • Right-click the Avira icon in your system tray. Click "Start AntiVir".

  • Click "Extras" then "Configuration". Click the "Plus" sign next to "General" to expand the options.

  • Click "Acoustic Alerts". Click the "No Warning" radio button to disable sound when Avira detects malware.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can set Avira to play any WAV file you want when it detects malware in place of the system sound. In the "Acoustic Alerts" window, click "Use The Following WAV file." Click "..." and navigate through the file system to the WAV file you want to use. Click "Open". Click "Test" to listen to the new alert sound.
