1
Cut 4-inch-thick foam to form a 15-inch square using an electric carving knife.
-
2
Cut two pieces of outdoor fabric 16 inches square using scissors. Cut four pieces of outdoor fabric 5 by 16 inches, one for each side. Cut one piece of outdoor fabric 3 by 16 inches for a handle.

Take the 3-by-16-inch handle fabric and fold 1/2 inch along each side of its length. Fold the folded fabric in half along its length so you have a strip 1 inch wide. Sew four seams evenly spaced lengthwise to create a strong handle. Set the handle aside.

Place two side panels face sides together, and sew a double-stitch seam with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. (A double-stitch seam is a seam sewn twice.) Place one raw edge against another side panel, and sew another double-stitch seam. Continue until all four panels are sewn together into a circle. Iron the seams flat. Top stitch 1/4 inch from each side of each seam. This will create strong seams.
-
5
Pin the side panels to the top cover with face sides together. Align the seams at the corners of the top cover. Pin a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Sew a double-stitch seam around all four sides. Clip the corners. Iron the seams flat, and top stitch 1/4 inch from each seam around the top cover.

6
Pin three side panels to the bottom cover with face sides together. Align the seams at the corners of the top cover. Pin a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Sew a double-stitch seam around the three pinned sides. Clip the corners. Iron the seams flat and top stitch 1/4 inch from each seam around the top cover.
-
7
Insert the cushion into the cover. Tug the corners of the foam into the corners of the cover. Fold under the rough edges of the open seam. Insert the handle in the center of the seam, with the ends of the hande 6 inches apart. Pin the seam and handle in place. Place the open edge into the sewing machine, and top stitch the seam closed using a double stitch.
