How to Set Up Email Forwarding to Gmail With Go Daddy


Many web and email hosts allow the user to forward email to an external email account. For people with several email accounts, this helps consolidate all the mail in one place while keeping email addresses separate for the senders. Go Daddy allows one free email forwarding with each account. If you need to set up more than one email forwarding account, you will need to purchase extra credits. Unfortunately, making changes to your account in Go Daddy is a cumbersome process, forcing you to use "credits" to do things that are included with your account.

  • Enter into your browser and press "Enter." This will take you to the Go Daddy home page. Log in to your account using your username and password.

    Move your mouse over "Email" in the menu bar. In the menu that pops up, click on "Email Management" under the "My Account" section.

    Click on the "Email Forwarding Plans" link. Click on the link that says, "Use Credit" in the section regarding using your free Email Forwarding credit.

  • In the window that appears to the right under "Setup Free Account," make sure your account is in the drop-down list and click the "Continue >>" button. A pop-up will appear that says, "Email Forwarding Added Successfully." Click "Ok."

    Under the "Email Forwarding Account" section that appears on the screen after clicking OK, click the "Setup Account" link. This brings up the "Email Control Center" with "Forwarding Plans" highlighted in the left menu. Click the "Add" button to add an email forwarding address.

  • In the "Create Forwarding Address" window that pops up, enter the email address that you want to forward from in the first text box. Select your domain name in the drop-down list after the "@" symbol. Finally, enter your Gmail address in the box under "Forward Mail To:" Click the "OK" button.

    Your Go Daddy email account is now set up to forward to your Gmail account.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to keep a copy of the email in your Go Daddy account so you can reply to it from there, set up to send a copy to your Gmail account instead. This is found under the "Advanced" tab when you click on your email account on the Go Daddy site under the "Email" tab.
  • No option in the email forwarding exists to keep a copy in your Go Daddy account. Once you set this up, all emails will be forwarded from the Go Daddy account to the Gmail account immediately. No auto-replies or filters set up will be applied.
