Keynote is the presentation application that comes bundled with Apple's iWork productivity suite. Similar to Microsoft's PowerPoint program, Keynote lets users create slideshows containing text, images, links and animations. The application uses the .KNT file format for its slideshows, meaning you cannot open a .PDF file in Keynote without first converting the file. The PDF to Keynote application converts each page of a .PDF file into an individual Keynote slide, letting you open your .PDF file in Keynote in a few simple steps.

Step 1

Open a Web browser and navigate to cs.hmc.edu/~oneill. Click the "Free Software" option, followed by the download link for the PDF to Keynote application.

Step 2

Double-click the PDF to Keynote .DMG file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the application on the computer.

Step 3

Double-click the PDF to Keynote application icon to launch the application.

Step 4

Click the "File" menu and select the "Open..." option. Locate the .PDF file you want to convert on the computer's hard drive, highlight it and click the "Open" button to open the file in the PDF to Keynote application.

Step 5

Click the "File" menu and select the "Save To..." option. Click the arrow to the right of the "File Format" heading and select the Keynote format you want to convert the .PDF file to from the drop-down menu.

Step 6

Click the "Save" button to save the PDF file as a Keynote file.
