The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus has a user-upgradeable operating system. Upgrade your calculator using the Texas Instruments USB cable and free software. The cable comes with the software on a CD, but you can also download it off the Texas Instruments website. The software works on both Mac and Windows computers.
Things You'll Need
- Texas Instruments Silver USB cable
Check the current version of the operating system on the Ti-83 Plus. Press the "2nd" key, then press "Mem," and press "Enter" to select option 1. The version displays on the screen.
Download and install the TI Connect software from the Texas Instruments website.
Plug the USB cable into an open USB port on your computer. Plug the other end into the TI-83 data port. This is a non-standard USB cable, so you must purchase one from the Texas Instruments website or one of its retail partners.
Download the latest version of the TI-83 Plus operating system. Mac OSX users can open the TI Connect application, then drag and drop the file on the calculator icon.
Drag and drop the file onto the "TI Connect" icon to upgrade the operating system in your TI-83 in Windows.
