Without apps, the standard Android device doesn’t nearly reach its full potential. That said, not all apps are created equally, and sometimes you might download a space-waster. Removing an app from your Android Home screen hides it, but it does not fully delete the application.
Remove Home Screen Apps
As of Android 4.4, the process of removing apps from your Home screen has remained largely unchanged since earlier versions like Android 2.2. Hold a finger on the app-in-question and you’ll see a picture of a trash can appear on the screen. Drag the app icon to the trash can and lift your finger. You’ll now see an empty space where the app once sat.
Delete the App
While removing an app from your Home screen frees up visual space, it doesn’t delete the application from your phone. To fully delete an app, tap the "All Apps" icon and select the "Settings" app. Choose "Apps" before selecting the app and tapping “Uninstall.” Some apps, like those that came on the phone, may not be user-removable.
