How to Block Someone's Facebook Posts

Facebook sharing is fun for the most part. Still, sometimes a particular friend might post too much or share information you're not interested in. Similarly, a someone on your friend list might leave inappropriate posts on your personal wall. If you don't want to sever your friendship on the social networking site entirely, but don't want to see a user's comments, just block her posts. You have full control over blocking a user's posts both on your news feed and your personal profile.

  • Hover your mouse over one of the posts in your news feed from the user you want to hide. When you hover your mouse on the post, a small "x" appears in the top right corner of the post.

  • Click once on the "x" and choose "Hide all by [User]" from the drop-down list.

  • Block a user from posting on your wall by clicking on the "Account" link in the top right corner of any Facebook screen and selecting "Privacy Settings."

  • Click on the blue "Customize Settings" link at the bottom of the "Sharing on Facebook" portion of the page.

  • Scroll down to the "Things Others Share" section and click on the gray icon next to "Permission to comment on your posts."

  • Select "Customize" from the drop-down menu. Type the name of a friend in the "Hide this from these people" field. When you begin to type a name Facebook will generate a list of friends who match your entry. Select a friend by clicking it once and click "Save Setting" at the bottom of the screen.
