How to Install RAM Into an Inspiron 1501

The Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop is an AMD-based unit, available with various AMD CPUs and an ATI video chipset. The 1501 uses DDR2 533Mhz RAM in configurations ranging from 256MB up to a maximum of 2GB. RAM. When you use this laptop, the operating system and any programs you run are loaded into RAM from the hard drive. RAM, or Random Access Memory, reads data much faster than a hard drive. When the RAM is full, the computer has to shuttle data back and forth from the hard drive, which slows things down. Installing more RAM is the most cost effective performance enhancement you can make.
