How to Disconnect From Cellular Data on an iPhone

If you want to avoid the possibility of incurring overage charges, you can disconnect from cellular data on your iPhone. Depending on your mobile plan, you may be charged for exceeding the amount of data allotted for your phone. Disconnecting the cellular data prevents you from receiving visual voice mail notifications and MMS messages. You are also unable to access the Internet or any other data-dependent applications without a Wi-Fi connection when the cellular data is disconnected.

  • Press the "Home" button on the iPhone. Tap "General."

  • Tap "Network" to access the settings for cellular data on your iPhone.

  • Tap the field next to "Cellular Data" to switch it to "Off" and disconnect from it.

  • Press the "Home" button to exit to the iPhone's home screen.
