How to Make an Address Bar Smaller in Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a free Web browser that allows users to customize their Internet search experience through add-ons and toolbar settings, including the address bar. The address bar spans the length of the Web browser. Most URLs do not require such a large space, in which users may want to make the address bar smaller. The Customize Toolbar feature of Firefox allows users to do exactly that.

  • Open Firefox.

  • Right-click a blank area of the toolbar at the top of the Web browser and click "Customize." The Customize Toolbar window launches.

  • Click and drag the "Space" icon from the Customize Toolbar window to the right of the address bar in Firefox. A white box appears next to the address bar indicating how much space is added. Continue to click and drag additional "Space" icons to the toolbar until you have decreased the size of the address bar to your liking.

  • Click the "Done" button in the Customize Toolbar window to save your changes and exit the toolbar settings.
