How to Prevent People With 0 Feedback to Bid on Your Auction on eBay

Ebay has long allowed users to buy, sell and purchase items, but if you're selling your own item, you may have to take precautions to protect yourself against unscrupulous buyers. Buyers who are new or have high negative feedback are more likely to back out of a transaction, which can result in further problems for you. Although you can't ban zero-feedback sellers from bidding on your item, you can set up a filter to prevent low-ranked sellers from making a purchase.

  • Log into your eBay account and hover your mouse cursor over the "Sell" tab. This will open a pull-down menu. Press "Sell an item" to bring up a window for listing creation. Click "List your item."

  • Use the listing creation form's text input boxes to create your item listing. From here, you can customize your item's price, shipping options and other listing aspects. Click "Continue."

  • Scroll down in the listing editing window to "Other things you'd like buyers to know." Click "Add Buyer Requirements." Here, you'll see various restrictions that you can set for buyers on your listing.

  • Click the check box labeled "Have a feedback score equal to or lower than." Use the pull-down box to set how low you want to adjust this negative feedback limit.

  • Press "Save" to apply these restrictions to your sale. Finish editing any additional listing aspects and press "List your item" to publish your eBay posting.
