How to Sync My Phone With a 2009 F150 Bluetooth

Save

The 2009 Ford F-150 is available with the SYNC system, which allows you to connect your cellular phone to the car over a Bluetooth connection for hands-free calling. Once you have paired your phone, you can make phone calls with voice control to comply with hands-free driving regulations that many states have enacted.

  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn on the F-150. The car must be running, not just in the "ACC" mode and the car must not be in motion.

  • Press the phone button on the vehicle's center console to enter the phone menu.

  • Press the arrow key until the display shows "Add Bluetooth Device," if it does not say so already.

  • Press the "OK" knob to confirm the selection. The SYNC system will say "Press OK to begin pairing device." Press "OK" again. The SYNC system will say "Search for SYNC on your device and enter the PIN provided by SYNC."

  • Enter the Bluetooth menu on your phone and select the "Add" or "Search" function to add a new device. Refer to your phone's instruction manual for specific instructions on how to do this, as the process varies by phone model and brand.

  • Select "SYNC" as the device you want to pair with on your cellphone.

  • Enter the PIN that is displayed on the SYNC display into your phone. The SYNC display will then read "Device Connected."

  • Select "YES" and press "OK" to set the phone as your primary SYNC phone. You can also use the arrow keys to select "NO" if you do not want this phone to be your primary phone.

  • Use the arrow key to select "Exit Phone Menu" and press "OK."

Tips & Warnings

  • If your phone supports phonebook and call history downloads over Bluetooth, you will be prompted to download your phone's phonebook to your SYNC system after you set it as your primary phone. Select "YES" and press "OK" to do this, or select "NO" if you do not wish to do this.
