It is easy to use a projector with your PowerPoint presentation.

You have just put together your first PowerPoint presentation and you're looking to project it to an audience that needs to see the information clearly. Using a projector that is already connected to a PC or a laptop will make it easier, but you can also obtain a portable projector for such events. Using a projector is much like having a second monitor attached to your PC and is made easy by PowerPoint's simple command menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up and adjust your portable projector, if necessary, ensuring that it is on and aimed at the screen properly. If you are using a PC with a projector in place already, make sure it is on.

    • 2

Connect the portable projector to your laptop by using the monitor cable that is attached to the projector. Your laptop or PC will ask you if you want to create a secondary monitor and will give you the option of making it identical to your existing display. Choose this option.

    • 3

Pull up your PowerPoint software and go to the menu option labeled "Slideshow" or you can press "F5." Your presentation will begin to run.

Tips & Warnings

  • For educational facilities with an existing projector in the room, be sure to ask for the system's password and log in before you start your presentation.
