How to Remove eBay From a Search

Save

EBay's company overview page claims "more than 94 million active users globally." Unfortunately, with so many people creating so much content, eBay results can dominate search engines when you're shopping on the Internet. Major search engines like Google and Yahoo! support custom commands that allow you to exclude any domain from your search results, eBay included. All it takes is combining a couple of advanced search options.

  • Open a Web browser and navigate to a search engine that allows you to search by specific domains, such as Google, Yahoo! or Bing.

  • Type your search criteria into the search field. For example, if you want to search for pink poodles, type in "Pink poodles."

  • Type "-site:ebay.com" at the end of your search criteria, minus the quotation marks. To continue with the same example, type "Pink poodles -site:ebay.com" into the search field to exclude eBay results from your search for pink poodles. The "site:" designator tells the search engine to limit its searches to a specific domain; adding the negative sign in front of it changes the command to tell the search engine to exclude all results from the designated website.

  • Click the "Search" button to launch the search.
