How to Change the Clothing Color in GIMP

If you take a lot of photos of your friends or family, you might occasionally edit them to make them better. If you use the freeware graphics program GIMP for this editing, you will have a wide range of options, from creating collages to morphing faces. Another thing you can do using GIMP is to change the color of clothing. This is useful if you want to change one item of clothing to better match another.

  • Load the image you want to edit onto your computer.

  • Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog box that opens, browse to and open the image you loaded.

  • Select the "Path" tool from the toolbar and use it to draw a selection around the piece of clothing you want to change.

  • Select "Color" from the menu and choose "Colorize." In the dialog box that opens, adjust the "Hue" and "Saturation" sliders until you like the result and click "OK."

  • Select "File" from the menu and click "Save As." In the dialog box that opens, name the file, choose the file type and click "Save."
