Instructions

    • 1

Unwrap the bananas from the plastic bags or packaging. Keeping them in an enclosed environment increases the effect of the gases that cause them to ripen quickly.

    • 2

Hang the bananas on a banana hanger or banana tree. This allows the air to circulate all around them. In lieu of a banana hanger, they can be kept in a colander away from other fruit, which also increases the ripening process.

    • 3

Store bananas that have reached the peak of ripeness in the refrigerator. The refrigerator will darken the banana skin, but will not effect the fruit. Bananas can also be stored in the freezer and used later.
