Everyone likes to look nice in clothes, including fat people. With a little ingenuity and the right clothes, a heavy-set person can create the illusion of appearing thinner. Losing weight is the only real way to make a fat person look thin; however, creating a perception of thinness is much easier and faster.
Buy clothes that fit you correctly. If you wear the wrong size clothes, you'll look bigger than you are.
Highlight your good parts. If you have a slim neck, upper torso or a cute face, buy clothes and accessories that highlight those features. For example, a dramatic necklace will highlight a slender neck.
Work on your posture. Stand up straight, pull your stomach in and your shoulders back. Balance a book on your head while you walk to practice your posture. Standing up straight will make your stomach look thinner.
Wear something black. Black clothing, especially pants and dresses, makes almost everyone look thin and hides big bellies, rolls and other unsightly areas. Add color to black outfits with colorful accessories, such as bracelets, necklaces and shoes.
Get a belt that snugly fits your waist. It will remind you to keep your stomach pulled in, which will make your stomach look thinner.
