How to Do Exponents in WordPad

All Windows computers include a free copy of WordPad by default. WordPad is a word processing software program with fewer features than commercial software such as Microsoft Word. While WordPad does not have many of the formatting capabilities of other word processing applications, it does include the ability to create superscript, which is a smaller character raised above the normal line of text. An exponent is a number written in superscript.

  • Open WordPad.

  • Type the number you want to turn into an exponent, such as "3."

  • Highlight the number you just typed.

  • Click the "Superscript" button, which looks like an "x" with an exponent of "2" and is to the right of the "Underline" button. Your number is now an exponent.
