How to Make My Citibank Credit Card Payment Online thumbnail
Paying your bills online may be confusing at first, but can add convenience to the bill pay process.

Online Bill Pay is a convenient method for paying bills using a computer and secure login information. Your banking information is protected using data encryption methods to ensure that your account information is safeguarded against identity theft.

While Online Bill Pay is a convenient service, it can also be confusing. Understanding the process will ensure that Citibank receives your credit card payment on time as expected.

There are two methods for paying your Citibank Credit Card online: using your bank's online banking system, or using the Citibank website.

Instructions

  1. Using Your Bank's Online Banking System

    • 1

Ascertain whether your bank offers online banking. Most regional and national banks now offer online banking services.

    • 2

Set up your online banking account using your bank's website if you haven't already done so. Most banks require, at minimum, that you identify yourself using an account number or ATM card number; that you pick a user name and password; and that you provide a secondary means of identification such as a security question or key word in case you lose your account number.

    • 3

Find your bank's "bill pay" screen. This can usually be accessed by a link with the title "Bill Pay," "Pay My Bills" or similar verbiage.

    • 4

Enter Citibank's information as requested. This will usually include the address on your bill, your Citibank account number and the exact name on the credit card.

    • 5

Enter the amount you wish to pay. This amount should be at least the minimum payment on your Citibank bill, though it can be more.

    • 6

Enter the date you wish to have the bill paid. Your bank may have a standard minimum number of days before the payment will process. This date ranges from one to five business days after the date the payment is scheduled depending on the bank, the day of the week and any upcoming holidays.

    • 7

Confirm payment. There are usually two screens. When you finish entering your information and click "send" or "confirm" -- depending on your bank's site, the wording may vary -- you will see a summary screen where you can view all your information for accuracy. Once you are certain the information is correct, you'll click "send" or "confirm" at the bottom of the screen. The payment is not in the system until you confirm this second time.

    • 8

Double-check using your online banking system or Citibank's online banking system that the payment was received on the scheduled date. Your online banking system should show the money debited from your account; your Citibank account should show the amount paid on your credit card.

    Using Citibank's Website

    • 9

Register for online bill pay with Citibank. You'll need your Credit Card number, and you will decide on a username and password during the registration process.

    • 10

Sign on to your Citibank credit card account. Select the amount of money you wish to pay. You can find this amount by checking your paper statement or viewing your statement online.

    • 11

Enter your banking information, which you can find on a check -- you'll need your routing number and your bank account number. After you've done this once you can select from a saved account or add an account.

    • 12

      Select your date of payment.

    • 13

Check that all your information is correct, and confirm the payment. After the scheduled date of payment, check with Citibank or your bank to confirm that the payment has gone through.
