How to Reset My Facebook Password If I Can't Answer the Security Questions

When you initially set up your Facebook account you have to select some security questions. If you lose access to your account, you can answer the security questions and regain access to your account without having to reset your password. It may have been years since you set up the security questions, but if you've forgotten the answers you can still access your account by resetting your password.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Forgot Your Password" below the login on the Facebook home page.

    • 2

Type your email, phone number or username into the screen.

    • 3

Click "Search" and then type the security code, or CAPTCHA, into the box.

    • 4

      Click "Submit."

    • 5

Click "Reset Password." An email will be sent to the indicated address with a security code.

    • 6

Log into your email account, click the link and then enter a new password.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the security question continues to show on your account, you may have to keep on resetting your password. To avoid this, email the Facebook team and ask them to remove the security question from your account. Once they do that, you'll be able to select a new security question.
