How to Find the Facebook App on My PS3

The PlayStation 3 was the first gaming console from Sony that truly supported an Internet connection in the same way computers do. Though the PlayStation 2 could use a broadband connection to play online games, its successor has a fully functional Web browser complete with dedicated applications that can connect you to a variety of different sites, including Facebook. The Facebook application on the PlayStation 3 allows you to sync trophy information, game accomplishments and post status updates to your Facebook account via your console.

  • Turn on your PlayStation 3.

  • Select "PlayStation Network."

  • Select "Account Management." If you do not see "Account Management," select "Sign In" and log into your PlayStation Network user account. The option will then appear.

  • Select "Facebook" to load the Facebook application on your PlayStation 3.

  • Select "Share Trophy Information" if you want to share information about the in-game trophies you unlock with your Facebook news feed. Select "Share Purchase Information" to publish information about the PlayStation Store purchases you make with your news feed. Select "Share Game Event Information" to share information about game events you participate in with your news feed. After making a selection, select "On" to enable the feature.

  • Enter your Facebook user account and password to link your Facebook profile with your PlayStation 3.

Tips & Warnings

  • Facebook integration is only available with PlayStation 3 firmware version 3.10 and later. If no "Facebook" application exists in the "PlayStation Network" category on the crossbar menu, select "Settings," "System Update" and "Update Via Internet" to update your PlayStation 3 to the newest firmware version.
