How to Link to a Facebook Account

Save

Facebook accounts all have their own unique addresses or "URLs" on the Internet. When you view a Facebook account -- be it a personal profile or a public fan page -- the URL appears in the address bar of your Web browser. Some Facebook accounts have long URLs full of numbers. Other Facebook accounts have shorter, custom URLs in the form of "facebook.com/customurl" that their users have expressly designated in their account settings. When linking to a Facebook account, the actual profile or page will appear in-full only if the user has elected to make the account public.

  • Open a Web browser and go to Facebook.com. Type your Facebook user email address and password in their respective boxes in the top-right corner of the page and click "Login."

  • Click a Facebook username from your News Feed, or from anywhere else on the Facebook website. That Facebook account page appears in your browser.

  • Click inside the address bar of your browser. Highlight the entire URL with the mouse and press "Ctrl" and "C" to copy the URL.

  • Press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste the URL in a document, website, other social network or anywhere else that lets you paste a link.
