The Work Offline mode of Internet Explorer (IE) 7 allows you to browse the Web safely by prompting you to connect each time a hyperlink or Web address is entered. The computer is essentially offline until you click "OK" to browse online. This setting is useful if lengthy updates run when browsing in IE and you'd like to be more selective of runs and what does not. The Work Offline mode can be quickly disabled if you find it intrusive, though.
Launch Internet Explorer. Click the "Start" button from the lower-left of the screen and click "Internet Explorer."
Click "Tools" from the upper-right corner of Internet Explorer.
Click "Work Offline." If there is a checkmark next to Work Offline, click again to remove the checkmark. This disables the Work Offline mode.
