How to Turn Off Auto Updates on a Motorola Droid

The Motorola Droid smartphone runs on Google's Android mobile operating system and has access to the Android App Market. Developers periodically update the applications you download from the Android Marketplace. The Android OS has an automatic update feature that updates the apps on your phone. If you want to disable this feature, however, you can do so in a few steps.

  • Tap the "Market" icon on the Droid's home screen to bring up the Android Marketplace.

  • Tap the phone's Menu button to bring up the Android Marketplace menu. Tap the "Downloads" option in the Marketplace menu to view the applications downloaded onto the device.

  • Tap the "Allow automatic updates" option to remove the checkbox from the option.
