How Can I Put a Movie File Onto a USB Memory Stick?

USB memory sticks conveniently allow you to move your movie files from one computer to another. If you have specialized player, such as a DivX player with a USB port, you can play the movie directly from your USB memory stick and save yourself the trouble and expense of burning a disk. As long as you have enough room on your USB memory stick, you can copy the movie file through Windows Explorer.

  • Insert your USB memory stick into an available USB port on your computer. Wait a few seconds for Windows 7 to automatically recognize the USB memory stick.

  • Click "Open folder to view files" to view the memory stick contents with Windows Explorer.

  • Navigate to the movie file's location within Windows Explorer.

  • Drag and drop the movie file onto the USB memory stick's drive letter on the left-hand pane. By default, this copies the movie. To move it, which essentially copies it and deletes the original, right-click and drag the file onto the memory stick. Release the right mouse button and choose "Move."

  • Wait until the file is completely copied before removing the USB memory stick.
