Save

You may have several reasons to reset the password you established to encrypt your iPhone backup in iTunes. Whether your current password's been breached or you simply need a more memorable password, you can change your encryption password as straightforwardly as you set the original one.

  • Launch iTunes and then connect your iPhone to your computer using the cable that accompanied the iPhone.

  • Click your iPhone under the "Devices" listing on iTunes' left pane.

  • Click the "Summary" tab above the main pane on the right. Scroll down to "Encrypt iPhone backup."

  • Click "Change Password." Enter your old password, then enter and verify a new password. Your new encryption password will now be reset.
