How to See the Security Certificates Stored in Your Computer

Save

Security certificates provide your computer with encryption between your Web browser and the host server. Internet Explorer provides you with a window that displays all of the certificates found on the computer so that you can view a list of security certificates installed. This is beneficial if you want to ensure that you have encryption for websites where you exchange personal and sensitive data.

  • Click the Windows "Start" button, and type "internet explorer" in the search text box. Press "Enter" to open the Web browser on your computer.

  • Click the "Tools" button, and then click "Internet Options." This opens the main settings window for Internet Explorer and the interface.

  • Click the "Content" tab. Click the "Certificates" button. A new window opens. A list of certificates displays. The certificates are listed in alphabetical order.
