How to Share Photos With Hotmail

Save

Hotmail is an easy-to-use way to share pictures from your latest vacation, snapshots of your new baby or photos that you've found online with family and friends. Hotmail gives you two distinct options for sharing photos: via attachments and via albums. Attachments work best for small numbers of photos that you would like the recipient to be able to save. Albums work best for many photos where the recipients should be able to view the shots for a short time. Either way, you friends and family will get to see the latest in your life.

Via Attachments (Best for Singular Photos)

  • Sign into Hotmail using your email and password. Click "Send Email" from the Hotmail homepage.

  • Enter the recipients' email addresses and type in a subject. Then, click "Attachments," found beside the "Insert" heading.

  • Browse through your computer file to locate the picture you want. Since using the attachments tool will display the photos one at a time within the body of the email, choose this option if you only have a few pictures to share.

  • Hold the CTRL button as you click photos, then click "Open." Hotmail will upload your photos to your email.

  • Type an email message and click "Send" once the attachments have finished uploading.

Via Photos (Best for Photo Collections)

  • Sign into Hotmail using your email and password. Click "Send Email" from the Hotmail homepage.

  • Enter the recipients' email addresses and type in a subject. Then, click "Photos," found beside the "Insert" heading.

  • Browse through the photos on your hard drive. Hold CTRL as you click the ones you'd like to share. You can also click, hold and drag a box around all of the files you'd like to upload. When the photos have been selected, click "Open."

  • Allow the photos to upload. Instead of attaching them one-by-one on the email, Hotmail automatically creates a SkyDrive album for your photos. SkyDrive is a third-party file hosting site. When a recipient receives your email, she will see a photo link to view the entire album for free using SkyDrive. The album will be available for viewing for three months.

  • Type an email message and click "Send" once the album is ready and has been inserted into the email.
