How to Change the Boot Order in an Acer Aspire 3100

The priority of devices that boot when starting or restarting your Acer Aspire 3100 is determined by the boot order. To make the operating system load faster, the first device to boot is typically the hard drive. If you need to make changes or repairs to your system you may need to boot from a different device. To do this you need to change the boot order, which requires accessing the BIOS.

Instructions

1. Restart or turn on your Acer 3100 computer.

2. Press the "F2" key when the manufacturer's splash screen appears; this will boot into the BIOS.

3. Highlight the "Boot" option in the BIOS Setup Menu by pressing the "Left" or "Right" arrow key.

4. Press the "Up"or "Down" arrow key to select the boot device, such as the CD-ROM. Press the "F6" key to change the boot order of the selected device.

5. Press the "Esc" key to exit the BIOS. Select "Yes" when asked if you want to save the changes. You will then exit the BIOS and the computer will restart.

Tips & Warnings

• Pressing the "F10" key when in the BIOS will save any changes that you have made.
