How to Stop People From Using Hacks on "Call of Duty 4"
Infinity Ward released "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" (COD4) in 2007. Since then, a number of gamers designed "hacks" that enable certain types of in-game cheating during multiplayer online events. These hackers set up lobbies in the multiplayer that alter the games to include unlimited fast running, invincibility and flying, among other features that the game does not normally contain. The matchmaking system used by the multiplayer servers to place players into online games does not distinguish between hacked lobbies and non-hacked ones. Players only ensure a hack-free game by setting up a private match.

Put your COD4 CD into your console. Press "Start" to access the main menu after the game loads, then highlight and click on "Multiplayer."

Highlight and click on "Play Online" for PlayStation 3 (PS3) or "Xbox Live!" for Xbox to log onto the COD4 server.

Select and click on "Private Match" in the multiplayer menu, which places you into a lobby by yourself as the host of that lobby. Click on the game type you want to play, such as "Free for All" or "Capture the Flag."

Set the parameters and map by clicking on the map you want to play, such as "Bog" or "Strike." Set the remainder of the game parameters, such as score limit, health, respawning and radar, among others.

Send invites to any players on your friends list to invite them to your private match lobby by selecting "Invite Friends" for PS3 or "Party Invite" for Xbox and then clicking on any player in the list that is currently online. Send them an invite by clicking "Join Session in Progress." Add more friends by repeating this process until you have filled the lobby or reached the minimum number of players for the game type.

Keep the lobby open until all of the friends you invited join the lobby. Click "Start Game" to play the match.

Tips & Warnings
Any lobby in which you randomly wind up as host cannot use hacks (unless you are running the hack). You are the host of any lobby in which you appear as the top player in the list of players in the lobby. The only way to guarantee that you are the host is to start a private match.
