How to Get the Number of a Post Office

Save

It is possible to find a telephone number for the closest local post office on the Internet. The United States Postal Service's Web site offers its visitors a link to assist them in finding the nearest post office location, based on their street addresses, state, and ZIP code. Once the search fields have been filled out appropriately, you will be directed to a list of locations in close proximity. There you will not only find the toll-free national numbers for post office locations, but you will also be given the local number as well. Find the telephone number for a post office in less than two minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet connection
  • Visit the United States Postal Service Web site and click on the "Locate a Post Office Link." The link for locating a post office will appear at the top of the screen, in the red rectangle.

  • Select "Post Office Locations" by clicking the down arrow icon on the left-side of the screen, underneath where you are asked "What are you looking for?" This selection may already be chosen for you automatically when directed to this page.

  • Enter your street address, city or ZIP code, and state into the appropriate fields, then click "Search." These field boxes appear directly underneath where you are asked "Near what location?" The list of results will give you the closest location addresses, hours of operation, and multiple telephone numbers to reach them.
