There are many ways to eat an egg, and if you like your egg slightly runny and soft-boiled, try eating it out of an egg cup. An egg cup is a special cup designed to hold one egg. It holds the shell steady as you spoon out the soft yolk and egg white. A soft-boiled egg may be boiled anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes, and an egg cup allows you to eat the egg neatly and efficiently.
Things You'll Need
- Soft-boiled egg
- Egg cup
- Egg spoon
Place the soft-boiled egg in the depression in the egg cup, broad end down.
Tap the sharp edge of a dinner knife around the top of the narrow end, creating a break around the top of the egg.
Use the knife to carefully slice away the top of the egg shell and the inner membrane. Work carefully to minimize any spillage.
Use an egg spoon to eat the soft-boiled egg out of the shell. You may also stir the yolk and the white together.
Tips & Warnings
- If you do not have a dinner knife close at hand, use the handle of the spoon if it is sharp enough.
- The longer the egg is boiled, the more solid the white will be. If you are worried about making a mess, boil the egg longer.
