Fruit flies can be an annoyance for any environment where food is present. Once they have invaded your kitchen, restaurant or grocery store, they can be difficult to get rid of. The best way to prevent the presence of fruit flies is by disposing of foods before they begin to rot or decay and by sealing all leftover foods in an airtight container. However, if you're past the stage of prevention and need the presence of the fruit flies eliminated without the use of chemicals or other harmful products, this article is for you.
Things You'll Need
- 2-liter plastic soda bottle
- Cider vinegar
Empty and wash out the 2-liter soda bottle.
Measure about 1/3 down the side of the bottle and cut off the top portion of the bottle at this point.
Invert the top portion and place it inside the open, bottom part of the bottle.
Tape the edges to secure the sides of the two parts of the bottle.
Pour a cup of cider vinegar in the bottle. The fruit flies will gravitate toward the vinegar and become trapped inside the bottle.
