How to Setup a Dialup Taskbar Icon
The network icon in Windows 7 shows the network your computer is connected to, along with the network strength and information. If you connect to the Internet via dialup, the network icon will show your dialup connection. By default, the icon is only visible in the hidden icon section on the taskbar. You can instead enable the icon to appear directly on your taskbar.

Click "Start" and type "Notification area" in the "Search" area. Click "Notification area icons".

Click the long button next to "Network." You may have to scroll down through the list of notification area icons to find "Network."

Select "Show icon and notifications." Click "Ok". The icon should immediately appear on the right side of your taskbar, next to the up arrow.
