The creative use of typography plays an important role in art and design. Adobe Photoshop CS3 allows you to use any font installed on your computer. You can download new fonts, some for free, from a variety of websites, and once you install it on your hard drive you can use it in Photoshop. You can quickly install new fonts in Windows and Macintosh operating systems by double-clicking a font file and selecting the "Install" button. Alternatively, you may install fonts via the "Font Control Panel" in Windows or the "Library" in Mac.

Instructions

  1. Font Control Panel in Windows

      Close Photoshop.

      Click on the "Start" menu icon in the lower left corner of your screen.

      Select "Control Panel" from the list on the right side of the Start menu.

      Click on "Appearance."

      Open the "Fonts" folder.

      Drag and drop the new font file into the "Fonts" folder to install it.

      Open Photoshop. The font will automatically be added to your Photoshop fonts.

    Library in Macintosh

      Close Photoshop.

      Open the "Fonts" folder from the Library.

      Locate and open the folder or disk that contains the new font you want to install.

      Select the font suitcases you wish to install.

      Drag and drop the font files into the "Fonts" folder.

      Open Photoshop. The font will automatically be added to your Photoshop fonts.
