You can use your iPhone to purchase or rent and download movies from the iTunes Store directly to your phone. Your can also transfer your existing library of movies to the iPhone using the iTunes multimedia management software. Movies must be in the MP4 file format for iPhone compatibility. This will allow you to watch movies using the iPod audio and video player application built in to the iPhone.
Things You'll Need
- iPhone USB cable
Browse to the iTunes website and download the latest version of iTunes to your computer. Follow the setup instructions provided on the iTunes download site to install the software on your computer.
Launch iTunes once the application has been installed.
Drag and drop a movie file into the "Library" section in the upper left corner of the iTunes application window.
Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable supplied with the device. ITunes will automatically detect the iPhone and add it to the "Devices" section on the left side of the application window.
Select your iPhone from the "Device" list in iTunes and click the "Films" tab. A list of all the movie files dropped into your iTunes library will appear in the Films box.
Tick the "Sync Films" box at the top of the iTunes window. Then, click the "Sync" button in the lower right corner. All of the movies listed in the "Films" box will be transferred to your iPhone and can be viewed using the iPod application.
Tips & Warnings
- Music can be transferred to the iPhone by accessing the "Music" tab and then using the same basic procedure.
- If a video file isn't compatible with the iPhone, iTunes won't allow you to drop the file into your library.
