How to Add a Playlist to an iPod touch

Playlists on the iPod touch are a way to organize your music into smaller groups within your library. Create a playlist with your favorite songs, or make song groups according to style or time period. If you trust iTunes to make a playlist for you, use the Genius Playlist feature. You select only the first track in a Genius Playlist, and your iPod touch adds songs it finds complementary to the song.

  • Open the "Music" application on your iPod touch.

  • Tap "Playlists" in the toolbar. If Playlists is not available in the toolbar, select "More" and then "Playlists."

  • Select "Add Playlist." Create a name for the new list when prompted. Tap "Save."

  • Find songs for the playlist, using the Songs and Artists icons along the bottom of the screen. To add a song to the playlist, tap it once. Tap "Done" when the playlist is complete.

  • Add a Genius Playlist to your iPod by going to "Playlists" in the music application and then tapping "Genius Playlists." From the list of songs that appears, choose one and tap it. Your device will automatically generate a playlist of songs similar to the one you selected. Tap "Save."
