How to Open the Full Screen Chat on Facebook

Facebook chat conversations are private.

The full screen feature on Facebook chat utilizes larger fonts and images, making the instant messaging experience easier on the eyes. Full screen chat also allows you to navigate around the Internet without losing your conversation, unlike the regular chat window, which requires you to keep your browser pointed at Facebook's website. You will enjoy the same options in full screen chat that you do in regular chat, including sounds for incoming messages and a panel that lists online friends.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Chat" icon in the bottom right corner of any Facebook page. Facebook will automatically log you in as long as you don't have any friend lists established. If you do, manually log in to each list of friends by clicking on the circle next to a list's name.

2. Click on the "Options" tab.

3. Click "Pop out Chat."

4. Initiate a chat conversation by clicking on the name a friend with a green circle next to her name in the left column. Begin typing in the text field at the bottom of the screen and hit the "Enter" key to send the message.

Tips & Warnings

• You may also click "Pop out Chat" in a chat conversation that has already begun, and the chat will be transferred to the full window.
