How to Transfer Video From a Computer to an iPad


The iPad is an Internet -and multimedia-equipped tablet computer designed and built by Apple, that enables you to purchase, rent and download videos directly from the online iTunes store. You can also transfer existing MP4-format video files to the iPad from a computer for viewing on the device. Make the transfer through the iTunes multimedia management software, and send it to the iPad via its USB cable.

  • Download and install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, following the installation instructions detailed on the iTunes website. Launch iTunes on the computer when installation has completed.

  • Drag and drop your video files from the computer into the "Library" section in the upper left corner of the iTunes window.

  • Connect the iPad to the computer using its USB cable. An entry will be added to the "Devices" section of the left column in iTunes.

  • Select the iPad in the "Devices" section of iTunes and click the "Films" tab. A list of video files that have been dropped into the iTunes library will be displayed in the "Films" box.

  • Check the "Sync Films" box at the top of the "Films" tab in iTunes.

  • Click the "Sync" button in the lower right corner to transfer your video files to the iPad.

Tips & Warnings

  • All videos transferred from the computer are immediately accessible through the iPad's iPod application.
  • The video files must be in the MP4 format to be viewed on the iPad.
