How to Update Facebook and Twitter Simultaneously

For those who use both Facebook and Twitter to maintain their social networks and connect with friends and family, there are a variety of tools that enable status updates to be sent simultaneously to both services. From Facebook apps that will keep status updates in sync between Twitter and Facebook to standalone web-based and desktop software that broadcasts status updates to multiple services, posting to both social networks from one interface is a simple task.

Instructions

Facebook App

1. Launch a web browser and log in to your Facebook account.

2. Navigate to the Twitter Facebook application page (see Resources).

3. Type your Twitter user name and password and then click "Allow."

4. Check "Allow Twitter to Post Updates to Facebook Profile." All updates posted to Twitter, excluding @ replies and direct messages, will now be simultaneously posted to your Facebook profile.

Ping.fm

1. Launch a web browser and navigate to Ping.fm (see Resources).

2. Create a new account by entering your email address and a password and then click "Sign Up."

3. Click "Twitter - Add Network."

4. Click "Link Ping.fm to Twitter."

5. Type your Twitter user name and password and then click "Allow."

6. Click "Facebook - Add Network."

7. Click "Connect With Facebook."

8. Type your Facebook user name and password and then click "Allow."

9. Click "Dashboard."

10. Type your status message and then click "Ping It" to simultaneously post the update to Facebook and Twitter.

TweetDeck

1. Download and install TweetDeck (see Resources) to your computer, mobile phone or Google Chrome web browser.

2. Launch TweetDeck.

3. Click "Add New Account" and then "Add Twitter."

4. Type your Twitter user name and password and then click "Allow."

5. Click "Add New Account" and then "Add Facebook."

6. Type your Facebook user name and password and then click "Allow."

7. Click the "Compose" text box and enter your status update.

8. Select your Twitter and Facebook account and then click "Send" to simultaneously update both services.
