How to Install PostScript Fonts on a Windows Computer

PostScript fonts include descriptions that help the fonts print well at any size and are considering high-quality fonts. To print PostScript fonts, you need a PostScript-capable printer. You must have Adobe Type Manager (ATM) to install PostScript fonts in Windows.

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Type Manager
  • Computer Fonts Software
  1. Step 1

    Launch ATM. Most likely you'll find this program by opening the Start menu and then clicking Programs, Adobe and then ATM.

  2. Step 2

    Be certain Source is set to Browse For Fonts.

  3. Step 3

    Locate the fonts you'd like to install.

  4. Step 4

    Select the fonts, and then click Add.

  5. Step 5

    Close the dialog box when you have completed installing fonts.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have ATM, you'll need to purchase it.
  • PostScript fonts have two parts - the .pfm and the .pfb. You'll need both of these to install a PostScript font correctly.
  • You can't print PostScript fonts if your printer doesn't understand PostScript. Check the documentation that came with your printer to make sure it is PostScript-capable.
