Reflect the mood of First Communion through your announcement's wording.

First Holy Communion is one of seven Sacraments administered to members of the Catholic Church. It involves receiving what Catholics believe to be the body of Jesus Christ. During First Communion, the church member is invited to partake in the ceremony of the Eucharist, where he will receive a small wafer blessed by the priest. It is a ceremony done at every Mass, and symbolizes the Last Supper, where Jesus sacrificed his body to save mankind's sins. First Communion is a very sacred and important part of becoming a Catholic, and the announcements for the ceremony should reflect this mood.

Instructions

    • 1

Address the announcement using the appropriate prefix(es) for the recipient. For instance, if the announcement is being sent to John and Jane Smith, address the announcement as "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" or "Mrs. Jane Smith and John Smith." It can also be addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

    • 2

Use formal wording such as "We request your presence" or "Please worship and celebrate with us." First Communion is a sacred and very formal ceremony, and the wording of your announcement should reflect this.

    • 3

Add the purpose of the announcement and the name of the child.

    • 4

Spell out the date and time of the ceremony. For instance, if the occasion is to occur at 2:00 p.m. on April 25th, write "Two o'clock in the afternoon, on the twenty-fifth of April." This is in keeping with the formality of the occasion.

Add the address of the location. The finished invitation should read "Mrs. and Mrs. John Smith, Please join us in celebrating the First Communion of our daughter Erica, at two o'clock in the afternoon, on the twenty-fifth of April. St. Mary's Church, 123 Michigan Ave."

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a Bible verse at the bottom or off to the side of the announcement if you can. John 6:35, Luke 22:19 and 1 Corinthians 5:7 are all appropriate for the occasion.
