How to Type Upside-Down Exclamation Points
The upside-down exclamation point is a common device in some languages, including Spanish. It usually denotes that the sentence following it is an exclamation. The presence of the upside-down exclamation point gives the following sentence emphasis. This is in contrast to English, in which the reader does not find out about the presence of an exclamation until the end of the sentence. If you are typing in a Microsoft Word file on a PC, it is not difficult to create the punctuation mark.
