Every day materials can be used in mosaic crafts.

Creating crafts from everyday materials is a great way to develop your artistic talents. Because the objects you use are easily available and inexpensive or free, you can experiment as much as you like to hone your skills. Using everyday materials in craft projects is also a great way of recycling. Turn unwanted scraps of household objects into mosaic crafts to decorate your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Collect an empty container with scrap objects and materials from around the home

    • 2

Break or cut the objects and materials you are using for the mosaic into small pieces.

    • 3

Draw a design on the surface of the container. Use simple geometric shapes which will be easy to fill with smaller mosaic pieces.

    • 4

Prime the container with a coat of PVA glue.

    • 5

Stick the mosaic pieces onto the surface of the container following the design you have drawn on it.

    • 6

Apply grouting mix over the surface of the container with your fingers, pressing it firmly into the spaces between the different mosaic pieces.

    • 7

Wipe the mosaic pieces with a damp cloth to remove excess grout. Leave to dry.
