How to Create Folders in Picasa Web Albums

How to Create Folders in Picasa Web Albums thumbnail
Picasa lets you sort your pictures into folders and albums.

In Google's Picasa photo management software, "folders" and "albums" are distinct. The Picasa software allows you to link folders on your hard drive to folders in Picasa, so that modifying either version of the folder will affect both; you can then upload the contents of these folders to online albums associated with your Google account. You can use Picasa's Folder Manager window to tell Picasa to create and monitor new folders.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a folder on your hard drive. In Windows, do this by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop or in any folder, pointing to "New," and clicking "Folder." In Mac OS, open the place you want to put the folder in the Finder, click the gear button, and select "New Folder."

    • 2

Open Picasa and click the "Tools" menu. Select "Folder Manager."

    • 3

Use the folder list on the left to browse to the location of the new folder on your drive, and click it to select it.

    • 4

Select the "Scan Always" option and click "OK." From now on, the folder on your hard drive is linked to the folder in Picasa -- any photos placed in the folder will show up in Picasa, and modifying the folder contents in Picasa will affect the folder contents on the hard drive.

Select the contents of a folder in the main Picasa window, click the "Upload" button, and follow the on-screen instructions to send the folder to an online album.
