The Facebook social networking site is a convenient way to stay in touch with friends and family. Each Facebook user has a profile page for displaying personal and contact information, covering everything from where you live to your favorite music or television show. One option is to include your current relationship status in the information bar at the top of your profile page. Change the "married" status on your Facebook profile by logging into your account and editing the profile.

Instructions

      Launch the Web browser from the computer's desktop screen or quick launch desktop toolbar.

      Navigate to Facebook by entering facebook.com into the address bar of the Web browser. Enter your facebook user name and password and click "Login." This opens your Facebook home page.

      Click "Profile" from the menu at the top of the page.

      Click the "Edit Profile" button.

      Select "Featured People" from the left-hand menu.

      Click "Relationship Status" in the main window.

      Select your preferred relationship status. You can opt to leave this blank by clicking the empty bar at the top of the drop-down list or choose from a list of status options, including "Divorced," "Single," "In a Relationship" or the enigmatic "It's Complicated."

      Click "Save Changes." This updates your relationship status on Facebook.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't want your Facebook profile and relationship status listed in search engine results then click "Account" and "Privacy Settings" from the menu on your Facebook home page. Select from a range of settings that control who can see what you share.
