Is Aunt Martha's wallpaper too ugly a backdrop for your Web page photo? Change it with Paint Shop Pro.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Paint Shop Pro

Step1
Start Paint Shop Pro and open the picture you want to change.
Step2
Use the Freehand tool (which resembles a lasso) or the square Selection tool to select the area you want to color.
Step3
Locate the color palette on the left-hand side of the screen.
Step4
Click on the top square and select a new color from the palette. Click OK.
Step5
Click on the Fill Paint button, which resembles a tilted bucket dripping paint. Open the Options menu and select the type of fill you want to use.
Step6
Place the cursor in the selected area and click once to fill the selection with the color and pattern you chose.
Step7
If the results aren't what you wanted, select Undo from the Edit menu to undo the change, then try again.
Step8
Save the picture using the Save As command in the File menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the Freehand tool to have greater control as you select the area to fill.
  • After you make your changes, save the file under a different name by selecting Save As from the File menu. That way, you keep the original file as well.
