Many of us take sight for granted; we can see well, with or without the aid of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Many people in the United States and throughout the world do not have access to affordable eye care or corrective lenses. Lions Club International is a service organization of more than 1.35 million members worldwide, dedicated to, among other things, providing better eyesight for those in need. You can help by donating used prescription eyeglasses to the Lions Club, where they will be recycled and given to people who need them.

Place your used eyeglasses in a case or wrap them carefully so that they will not be scratched or damaged.

Visit a location that contains a Lions International sponsored eyeglasses collection box. These boxes may be found at libraries, optometrist offices, schools, community centers and other public locations, including your local Lions Club office.

Place the glasses in the collection box.

Tip

Eyeglasses that are carefully packaged can be mailed to the one of the Lions Club 17 recycling centers (see references) or to the organization's international headquarters: Lions Club International, attention Receiving Department, 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, Illinois, 60523. Prescription and reading, sunglasses and children's glasses in metal and plastic frames are especially needed.
